This isn’t the most fascinating part of the site, but I can tell you a bit!
I am 42 years old and live in California with my wonderful husband and two kids, two energetic golden retrievers, and 2.5 cats. I married my high school sweetheart because he is rad, and we have been married almost 20 years now. A few years after we were married, I had a science-loving, rule-following, adorable brilliant boy. Then, a few years later, a free-spirited, drama and art-loving, animal obsessed (especially goats of all things!) smarty pants daughter arrived.
I worked in a hectic, fast-paced, pressure cooker job for 17 years where I made some of the best friends that ever were, and learned so much. And then, I just opted out of playing it safe. I left the world I knew, where I was successful and knew what I was doing for a new challenge. And, shockingly enough, I got just that.
I have always loved cooking and baking. It started young, and it never really stopped. I talk a lot about it with my sister and my friends: meal planning, menu tweaking, ways to make it easier, ways to make it more interesting, ways to make it more healthy, and ways to make it more decadent. My sister and I routinely talk around dinnertime and even call our phone calls and texts at this time DHH. That’s right, the dinner help hotline! Making food is never far from my thoughts.
The only thing better than cooking and baking is sharing food that you have made with other people. I love nothing more than having people at my table to talk and eat and laugh and basically bask in the connection that sharing food provides. Preparing food for someone else is an act of love in my life, and I wanted to broaden my horizons and make my table a little bigger. I have always loved the idea of biblical hospitality, where you demonstrate love for others (strangers too!), by caring for their needs with a glad and happy heart, and you do it using the gifts that God lovingly gave you.
